Training Treats

Training Treats

These Yorkie training treats will help you to get the behavior you want from your poochie, and then lets him know that he performed the behavior correctly.

One misconception people have about using treats for dog training is that their dogs will only perform for treats. Don’t worry! You won’t have to walk around with your pockets stuffed with liver brownies for the rest of your life. Once your yorkie has learned a new behavior, you can phase out the treats, only giving him a treat every once in awhile. Most yorkie owners find that using treats to train is fun and rewarding!

Liver Brownies:

  • 1 lb. beef liver liquefied in food processor or blender
  • 1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
  • 2 teaspoons fresh minced garlic

Mix well, and spread into a lightly oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 350° F for 18-20 minutes. Cool and cut into squares, refrigerate. Will keep for about 2 weeks (if they last that long) or you can freeze them!Tuna Fudge:

  • 2 -6-oz cans tuna OR 1- 14-oz can salmon, do not drain
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tbsp. fresh minced garlic
  • 2 eggs
  • grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Process tuna, garlic and eggs in food processor or blender (or mix in a bowl). Add flour and mix to a brownie-like consistency. Spread into a 9×9-inch greased pan. Bake at 350° F for 20 minutes. When the brownies are done, they will have a putty-like texture and the edges will pull away from the sides of the pan. Cut into squares and serve, or freeze.
