Yorkie gravy recipe

Rinse turkey leg or  3 chicken thighs in cold water.

Add 1 cup chopped carrots, 1 cup celery, 1 cup sweet potatoes, and 1 cup zucchini.

Combine water to cover turkey or chicken then bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cover the pot. Cook for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. The remove turkey leg or chicken from the pot to a cutting board or plate, and let cool.

Add veggies to the pot, cook till softened, about 15 minutes. Remove veggies from the pot. Whisk the 1 cup oat bran (optional) into the hot broth mixture. Cook for about 1 minute until the mixture thickens a little, then remove from the heat. Take the meat off the bone, then puree the meat, vegetables and oat bran mixture in a food processor or blender. WHALA, now you have kibble topper!

Pour the gravy into a cupcake tin then set in the freezer overnight. The next day pop the frozen gravy portions out of the tin and put them into a freezer bag. Store in the freezer until about an hour before your ready to serve to your dog.

Prepare to serve

Take a portion out of the freezer at least an hour before you’re planning to serve it to your dog, the night before is even better. Serve it alone or use it to enhance homemade dog food or nutritionally enhance commercial dog food. Store thawed gravy in the refrigerator for up to three days. Individual frozen portions for up to two months.
